NATIONAL FARM MACHINERY SHOW

The Franklin County Farm Bureau will be taking a bus to the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, KY on Wednesday February 10th. There is no charge for the bus for Franklin County members.
The bus will leave the Franklin County Farm Bureau Building at 6:00 a.m. and will return around 7:30 p.m. We will stop on the way home for a meal.

Drone Registration Starts Next Week

Rich Guebert Jr was elected as President of the Illinois Farm Bureau for another 2 year term, David Erickson as Vice-President for an additional 2 years and Larry Miller was elected as the District 17 Representative for an additional 2 year term. Also, Kendall Browning will now be serving as our District 17 Young Leader Representative for a 2 year term. Franklin County is well represented and we feel that this gives us a better voice for issues that arise.
Franklin County is proud to have raised $5,500 for Harvest of Help. We have called the food pantries in the county and will purchase the items that they have requested. We provide these items to 9 food pantries and items are available through them.
The Foundation Scholarship and the Young Leaders Scholarship are available to anyone attending a post-secondary school to study in an agriculture related field. All applicants must be a resident of Illinois and must be a Franklin County Farm Bureau Member or dependent in good standing.
The Foundation and the Young Leaders will both award a $500 scholarship based on: Academic performance and honors, rank in class, ACT/SAT score, community involvement, demonstrating an interest in agriculture and/or agribusiness, character and personality, maturity, intellectual interest, moral character and demonstration of leadership skills.
Applications must be returned to the Franklin County Farm Bureau no later than April 6, 2016 to be eligible for consideration for the 2016 scholarship.
Applications are available now and must be picked up the at the Franklin County Farm Bureau Building at 1210 Highway 14 West in Benton or call the office at (618) 435-3616 if you have any questions.
A full listing of available scholarships from the IAA Foundation, eligibility guidelines, and application documents are available at the Foundation website, www.iaafoundation.org. Completed applications must be submitted online by Feb. 1, 2016.
Most drone owners will have to register their devices starting next week under rules aimed at controlling the sharp increase of unmanned aircraft in U.S. skies that officials fear threaten public safety. The rules, unveiled on Monday, apply to drones heavier than a half-pound—which covers virtually all consumer devices other than palm-size toys.
With tax season about to gear up, the Illinois Department of Revenue will be able to send out tax notices and pay some vendors due to a recent appropriation measure passed by the lawmakers and signed by the Governor. A spokesperson for IDOR says the $1 million for operation and contingent expenses means the department will be able to purchase postage to mail forms, correction notices and tax assessments.
